Meet Our Founder

Yi Shing has extensive experience working with people distressed by challenges in life, at work and at home. At the IMH (Institute of Mental Health), Yi Shing worked with adult patients, as well as parents of distressed adolescents in its Child Guidance Clinic.

With advances made in psychotherapy and neural science, Yi Shing’s work with clients has evolved to become principally brain-based and trauma-focused, using modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help people overcome challenges in life, career, and mental health conditions.

Yi Shing is a lifelong learner on a constant quest for therapy that is more efficacious, safe, and produces sustained healing for clients. She continually and judiciously integrates into her clinical practice up-to-date EMDR and other clinical innovations that are supported by research evidence. Her effort has met with excellent clinical outcome.

Yi Shing believes the more safely and efficiently we are able to treat mental health complaints, the better we are at alleviating misery of the sufferers and their families, and at reducing the period of affliction. That will in turn contribute to greater mental wellbeing and resilience of the community.

Yi Shing also frequently works with couples in relationship and marriage therapy using Gottman Method Couples Therapy, to guide couples to repair their relationship, navigate conflicts, and to re-bond.

By way of background, Yi Shing was a lawyer in private practice in international finance and investment laws for 25 years. She was a partner and headed departments at leading law firms, dealt with “frontier” issues at the time in her specialist areas, and was recognised as leading counsel in legal journals over the years. She was a frequent speaker at forums in Singapore and China, convened by government agencies, chambers of commerce, and major corporations.

Yi Shing has lived and worked in England and Shanghai for 20 years.

For these reasons, Yi Shing is keenly aware of the pressures and challenges of professional life in the fast lane, as well as migration, transitioning and adjusting to a new country.
